System Boilers: Best System Boilers for 2018

System Boilers: Best System Boilers for 2018

System boilers are a popular choice for homeowners in the UK with larger houses with more than one bathroom. System boilers have many features that might make them seem more attractive to have than conventional boilers; they have fewer external parts, they take up less space, they are faster and are usually more cost effective to run. They are a perfect solution for homes with limited loft space and just limited space in general!

People ask me ‘what is the best system boiler to go for?’ so I have decided to write a blog post dedicated to the topic.

They are often used in larger households or where instantly hot water is often needed from multiple taps and showers across a household at the same time.

But with all that in mind, there are many different system boilers on the market, and they all have different properties so it can be tough deciding which one to buy. It can be difficult finding out which system boiler is the best option for your home and your needs. To help I have compiled a list of, what are in my opinion, the best system boilers out there for your home depending on how many bedrooms and bathrooms you have.

If you’re confused about which boiler system you need for your house then check out one of my previous blog post where I explain them in detail:

What Are The Different Types Of Boiler Systems

So without further delay, here are the best system boilers for 2018:

Best System Boiler for 1 – 2 Bedroom Flat or House with 1 Bathroom:

  1. Worcester Bosch Greenstar 12i System Boiler:

The Worcester Bosch Greenstar 12i System Boiler is recommended for smaller households such as flats and bungalows. Its compact design makes it very space efficient and its dimensions in millimetres are (height x width x depth) are 710 x 400 x 300. Not only is it space efficient but also energy efficient, which makes it a cost-effective and more environmentally-friendly appliance to have in your home, as opposed to a regular boiler.

So why this boiler in particular? Well, the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 12i System Boiler is both solar and wave compatible, giving you the choice to make it that much more environmentally friendly if you would like, and it is 90.1% efficient, giving it an ErP efficiency rating of A. During the cold winter months there is zero risk of the condensate pipe freezing thanks to its internal CondenseSure style syphon. It comes with simple and clear boiler controls and has onboard operational information and diagnostics so you can monitor how well the boiler is running. It also gives us plumbers an insight into what needs to be fixed or sorted (if there is anything at all) and means you get complete transparency of what we get up to during a service.

It comes with a 5 year guarantee but as we’re approved Worcester Bosch accredited installers we can offer up to a 10 year guarantee.

Features:

  •         Warranty: 5 years
  •         ErP Efficiency Rating: A
  •         Output: 12kW

  1. Worcester Bosch Greenstar 15i System Boiler:

The Worcester Bosch Greenstar 15i System Boiler is in fact very similar to the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 12i System Boiler, but with a little more power, so it’s perfect for smaller properties that often need instant heating or hot water. The dimensions are again in millimetres (height x width x depth) 710 x 400 x 300, showing that a little more power doesn’t always mean a larger model. This compact design again shows its space efficiency and therefore suitability for smaller homes. But the similarities don’t stop there, although the output has increased this model is just as efficient as the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 12i System Boiler, which is brilliant if you’re looking for a boiler with a bit more oomph, without leaving a large carbon footprint.

So why choose this boiler? First off, there is no chance of the condensate pipe freezing, thanks to the CondenseSure syphon (as mentioned with the Worcester 12i). I think this goes to show these boilers are made to be reliable, especially when you need it most, during winter. The onboard operational information and diagnostics, as well as the simple controls, makes it even easier for you to see how your boiler is doing and control the boiler so it works exactly as you’d like it. Similarly, it is solar and wave compatible and is 90.1% efficient, giving it the same ErP as the Worcester 12i, even though it has a higher output.

It comes with a 5 year guarantee but as we’re approved Worcester Bosch accredited installers we can offer up to a 10 year guarantee.

Features:

  •         Warranty: 5 years
  •         ErP Efficiency Rating: A
  •         Output: 15kW

Best System Boiler for 2 – 3 Bedroom Flat or House with 1 – 2 Bathrooms:

  1. Worcester Bosch Greenstar 24i System Boiler:

The Worcester Bosch Greenstar 24i System Boiler is usually used in medium to larger properties, but I would recommend it for large flats and apartments, or small houses, for it to be most effective. It shares the compact dimensions mentioned with the boilers described above of (height x width x depth) 710 x 400 x 330 in millimetres. This makes it ideal for you if you have limited space in your kitchen, as many busy homes do. Despite the higher output of the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 24i System Boiler, it is equally efficient as the 12i and 15i, and so is cheaper to run than a conventional boiler, whilst being more environmentally friendly.

But why should you go for this boiler? For starters, the onboard operational information and diagnostics let you see what your boiler gets up to and if any problems come up, you can quickly inform your plumber about what is specifically wrong and give them a heads up of what to expect before they even arrive at your house. The clear and simple controls also mean you can easily choose how you want your boiler to run, in a way that suits you. Not only is this boiler energy efficient, it is also Wave and solar compatible, so you have other options of how you want to power it. Its 90.1% efficiency has awarded it the ErP rating A as well making this system boiler a great deal more ecological than most.

It comes with a 5 year guarantee but as we’re approved Worcester Bosch accredited installers we can offer up to a 10 year guarantee.

Features:

  •         Warranty: 5 years
  •         ErP Efficiency Rating: A
  •         Output: 24kW

  1. Worcester Bosch Greenstar 18i System Boiler:

The Worcester Bosch Greenstar 18i System Boiler is often found in small to medium-sized properties, mostly for large apartments and small houses. The compact dimensions in millimetres are (height x width x depth) 710 x 400 x 330, which you may notice is the same as all of the boilers so far. To me, this is proof that the bigger the boiler is, does not necessarily mean it is better and often the most efficient boilers are the smaller ones. It is, therefore, no surprise that the Worcester 18i system boiler is just as efficient as the Worcester 12i, 15i and 24i, making it a cost-effective as well as energy and space efficient.

But what’s so special about this boiler? To begin, the risk of the condensate pipe freezing or frost in the boiler is eliminated thanks to the CondenseSure syphon already fitted in the boiler, giving you a reliable boiler even during colder months. The simple and clear boiler controls added to the onboard operational information and diagnostics means that you know what your boiler is capable of. It is easier to monitor and maintainance has never been easier. To top that off it is solar and Wave compatible, plus 90.1% efficient making it an ideal boiler for you if you are looking for something that puts a little less pressure on the environment as well as your wallet.

It comes with a 5 year guarantee but as we’re approved Worcester Bosch accredited installers we can offer up to a 10 year guarantee.

Features:

  •         Warranty: 5 years
  •         ErP Efficiency Rating: A
  •         Output: 18kW

Best System Boiler for a 4+ Bedroom House with 2+ Bathrooms:

Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30cdi System Boiler:

The Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30cdi System Boiler is ideal for large properties which require substantial heating, such as large houses. It has slightly larger dimensions to the previous boilers of (height x width x depth) 760 x 440 x 360, yet still maintains a high efficiency. Despite its size, it still has plenty of features which make it environmentally friendly and cost-efficient, which is probably why it was awarded the Which? Best Buy winners title and is branded as Worcester’s top performing system boiler.

So what are these fantastic features? This boiler is solar and Wave compatible which makes it ideal for anyone who has a more ecological alternative power source at home which they’d like to use to power their boiler instead. Not only this but the Worcester 30cdi system boiler has low NOx and CO2 emissions, with an ErP Space Heating Efficiency A-rating. Its low energy pump limits the amount of energy you use and in turn, reduces the amount you spend on energy. The controls are simple and easy to use and it is suitable for smart controls, for example, Wave, making it a versatile and cost-effective option for a boiler.

It comes with a 5 year guarantee but as we’re approved Worcester Bosch accredited installers we can offer up to a 10 year guarantee.

Features:

  •         Warranty: 5 years
  •         ErP Space Heating Efficiency Rating: A
